Warm Weather Scarves: Get Ready for Another Year

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008 at 3:02 pm

About two or three years ago now, girls stopped taking their scarves off when it came time for spring. Sure, the material got lighter, but that little wisp around the shoulders became a staple that it seems mainstream, mid-price retailers are finally ready for this year. The vintage stores I was turning upside down to find them can breathe again!

Colors and shapes are all over the place, but the fabric is consistent- most girls are choosing whisper-light silks and cottons. This trend does a lot to punch up a look without spending a bunch of money at one time (although if going luxe is your thing, check out this beautiful version from Missoni). I like wearing them over a thin, strappy tank top or with a sundress; you’re still showing the nice line of your neck- a pretty part of almost every girl- without feeling naked.

Clockwise from top left, Old Navy, $14.50, here. Urban Outfitters, $20, here. JCrew, $39.50, here. Vera Sand at Ravinstyle, $63, here.

What’s Your Zodiac Sign?

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008 at 3:02 pm

I happen to be a Leo, and we love gold, shiny things. So it’s no surprise that I adore these necklaces and rings from The Constellations collection of jewelry designer Ella Poe. They are a unique way to make a statement and show your zodiac pride.

At $1,050 for the necklaces and $1,250 for the rings, these pieces are not cheap. But do not despair! There is a coupon code at the Ella Poe website that lets you save 15%: EXTRA2008
Also, you’ll be helping a charity called Women for Women International with your purchase, as a portion of the profits goes to them. Style with a cause! Loves it.

Some readers we’re curious about were to get Jessica Simpson’s cute leopard handbag. She is carrying the Roberto Cavalli Acapulco Bag in Leopard. The color she is sporting is currently sold out everywhere, but they have it available in brown at eLuxury.

Acapulco Bag Cost: $1,465

For those of you who must have the leopard print, Net-A-Porter carries the Roberto Cavalli Canvas Leopard Shopper, which is similar to Jessica’s and a little cheaper.

And for an even cheaper alternative, check out Victoria’s Secret’s Leopard Print Drawstring Satchel. Although it is not extremely similar to Jessica Simpson’s bag, it’s pretty darn cute and doesn’t come with the hefty price tag!

Leopard Drawstring Cost: $68

These bags fit in perfectly with this spring’s safari trend and go well with neutral colors. They are a bold statement for anyone’s wardrobe.
