Just curious, what is the difference between regular Barneys stuff and Barneys Co-Op?
Im coming to NY in November and have already been lurking on the website to see what I can buy!
May 8th, 2008 @ 1:44 pmHow fun to look through! I can’t tell though if the dresses are butt-cheek short or the models have giraffe legs.
May 8th, 2008 @ 2:24 pmLiz - the Co-Op is laid back & has a younger vibe with more jeans, tees & trendier designers (read that as a bit more affordable
) Barney’s proper veers as close to haute as a department store can, prices are steeply increased & the designers are older houses.
On a purely personal note, I like Co-Op for some stuff, but for the level of designer goods in Barney’s proper (even if it’s just for browsing) I would suggest a stop at Bergdorf’s because they have a much larger selection & it’s just (to me) a nicer vibe.
For a younger hipper 5th Avenue feel a trip to Bendel’s … they always have something cute in tons of price ranges from 10$ to $$$$+.
Or, the undiscovered gem of 5th Avenue - Takeshimaya. Which is a high-end Tokyo department store with a very cool branch on 5th Avenue.
May 8th, 2008 @ 2:38 pmAmy - I’d say the models are @ 5′10″ … but the lengths will still be shorter than knee length, I’d say half down the leg.
May 8th, 2008 @ 2:42 pmElyn, thank you so much!! Thats a great help. I know its only May but a girl can get excited for November right!?
If you have any other handy tips for shopping, or anything else fun that would be great :D:D:D
May 8th, 2008 @ 4:21 pmLiz - let me know what you’re looking for? Uber-design House areas (Like Gucci, YSL, Cavalli, Dior, etc)? Fun, Trendy boutiques (Like Scoop, Inermix,)? Or a huge shopping area with a mix of all type of stores? Also what neighborhoods (SoHo, East Village, 5th Avenue, Upper East Side)? And @ the price point if you have any set point …
And yes, I pre-plan shopping, err vacations waaaay in advance! BTW, November is a really pretty time to be in NYC … you’re going to have fun!
